MPSTDC to develop three circuits with tourist attractions to promote Caravan Tourism
Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (MPSTDC) will develop three circuits comprising of tourist attractions to revive and promote Caravan Tourism. Bal Mukund Namdeo, Chief General Manager, MPSTDC said, “We are developing three circuits, Shivpuri-Orchha-Khajuraho, Bhopal-Tawa -Pachmarhi and Indore- Mandu-Maheshwar.” He said that all facilities including camping will be developed by January next year for tourists visiting these sites by caravans. Areas for make-shift tents, water and other facilities will come up at these places to promote Caravan Tourism.
As per MPSTDC sources, the number of foreign tourists, especially from Netherlands, visiting places of tourist interest in Madhya Pradesh by caravans has reduced in the last decade possibly due to the need for more facilities. Though the famous tourist attraction Khajuraho, known for magnificent temples, has a camping site, the number of foreign tourists visiting it by caravans has dropped as well.
